Einen Teil dieses Palasthotels ließ im Jahre 1905 die Familie Almássy erbauen. Der andere Teil wurde fast 30 Jahre später, im Jahre 1934 vollendet. In diesem Gebäude befand sich einst das Elizabeth Waisenhaus, das laut Volksmund nach dem Namen der Kaiserin Elisabeth, die oft bei der Familie Almássy zu Gast war, benannt wurde. Der Name des Hotels wurde zum Andenken an sie gewählt.
