Offering indoor and open-air hot-spring baths, free Wi-Fi throughout and a Japanese-style breakfast and dinner, Minshuku Iwatakan is about 8 minutes from JR Takayama Train Station on the free shuttle. Free on-site parking is provided. Guests sleep in traditional style, in futon bedding atop a tatami (woven-straw) floor. Each room is air-conditioned and includes a TV. Toilets are shared, and guests bathe at the hot-spring baths. You can use one of the free-use bicycles to explore Takayama, or check your email at the free-use internet PC. Minshuku Iwatakan Inn is a 15-minute walk from Yatai Kaikan, which exhibits elaborate, ancient festival floats. The Miyagawa Asaichi Morning Market is a 10-minute walk away. Old Town Takayama is about a 15-minute walk away. Meals must be reserved at least 1 day in advance and require an extra fee. They are served at the dining room.

The hotel has a curfew at 23:00. Guests cannot enter or leave the hotel after this time. Rooms are not serviced by a "Nakai-san" personal attendant. Guests must lay out their own futon bedding. Free pick-up from JR Takayama Train Station is available from 15:00-19:00 only. To arrange pick-up, please call upon arrival at the station.
